Holiday in Kotor

by Shelley

Where can we buy fresh fish in Kotor and is is only available in the mornings? How about fresh bread?
What is the local drink (spirit) called?

How does one know when to swim across the sea from one side to the other without getting hit by a cruise ship?

Is it safe to drink the tap water if you are from another country?

Thank you kindly

Thanks for your question Shelley, here are my answers:

You can buy fresh fish in the farmers market every morning in front of the old town. You can also buy it at Montefish under Magnolia square in the centre of Tivat. Another option is at Cogo in Ljuta - this is about 15 minutes from Kotor by car towards Herceg Novi. It's a large building on the main seaside road in Ljuta, you can't miss it!

You can buy fresh bread in any bakery - there are many in Kotor and they're called 'pekaras'. Bread here usually only lasts a day so you need to buy it daily.

The local spirit is a brandy called 'rakija'. It's a must try!

I would advise against swimming across the bay because of boats and jet skis. It's just too dangerous. Best to stick to the coastline.

The tap water is safe to drink.
