Queen of Montenegro

The Queen of Montenegro hotel is a large hotel in Becici, along the Budva Riviera. It's just out of Budva, so you can get into town within about 10 minutes by either car, bus or taxi.

Budva is Montenegro's most popular summer resort and it's absolutely buzzing in July and August. May, June, September and October are also generally busy, but not like during the peak months.

That's why I like the hotels that are just on the outskirts of Budva. Being out of the busyness and hub-bub of the town itself, you really get the feeling that you’re on an idyllic beach holiday. But you're also close to all the action in town.

The best of both worlds!

My first impression of the hotel was one of being very welcome – and that impression stayed right through. From the gatekeeper who personally escorted me to the parking lot, to the friendly receptionist and prompt service in the restaurant, I felt like a VIP!

The hotel itself is a nice, modern building with a central atrium on the inside. When you’re in there the whole place feels really open and light. There are various seating areas, a restaurant and an indoor garden, which in conjunction with all the glass and sea views, all work to bring the outdoors in. A real plus when you’re in an area of such spectacular natural beauty!

The Queen of Montenegro is just across the road from Becici beach, where they have a private area for hotel guests. The hotel has its own restaurant on the beach called Pod Murvom (Under The Mulberry Tree) so there's no need to head back to the hotel when you get hungry.

They also have peddle boats and kayaks for hire which are great for kids and those who get bored lying on the beach. The water here is always calm unless a big storm has rolled in, so it's easy if you're a kayaking novice or not a confident swimmer.

In my experience, this is one of the few places in Europe where you can enjoy this kind of holiday location. You're a short walk from the beach where you can lie out, sip a cocktail and keep cool in clear, azure waters. You're also just a short distance from the lively tourist centre of Budva, but far enough away that you can enjoy an atmosphere of peace an relaxation.

Becici beach is a great spot for children too. It’s made up of sand and small pebbles, so it’s easy on little feet. It’s long and wide and gradually slopes into the water, so it’s nice and shallow for wee ones.

When you stay here, you’ve got the choice of double/twin rooms, family rooms, suites and resident suites. All are light, modern and spacious with either a garden or sea view.

Although the garden view offers impressive views of the surrounding hills, springing for the sea view room is something you’d be unlikely to regret.

There’s just something unbeatable about waking up overlooking the ocean!

And if you happen to be in your room at sundown, you’ll get breath-taking sunset views from your room.

Single standard rooms from €77 per night

Double standard rooms from €110 per night

Family rooms from €165 per night

Local's Tip: The ideal way to enjoy a Budva Riviera sunset is to watch it while enjoying a beach-side dinner at one of the Riveria's great restaurants... But I'm sure you'll find that out for yourself.

If you really want to stay in style, I have to say the Queen of Montenegro has you covered. They have 9 resident suites, which will be your stylish and comfortable home away from home.
Along with the comfortable and relaxed furnishings, a private rooftop terrace with your own loungers will make you feel like the ‘Queen of Montenegro’ – or King, as the case may be!
In fact, the resident suites are named after Queen Milena and her daughters, with each suite bearing one of their names. The Milena suite even has some of the Queen’s personal possessions on display within.
The suites start from €200 per night and go up to €1,200 per night for the Milena Suite in high season.

If you’re more of a pool person than a beach person, The Queen of Montenegro has got you covered there too. They have both outdoor and indoor pools – the outdoor one has a stunning view over the sea.

This is the perfect spot to watch the sun go down on the horizon in summer.

The Queen of Montenegro has four restaurants and two bars including the restaurant on the beach, so you’re well covered if you don’t feel like eating out.

They have a good value half board option for €15 per person per day. Breakfast in a restaurant would cost from €5-10 and dinner easily €15-30, which makes this half board option cost-effective if you want to stay in the hotel for your meals.

Personally, there’s nothing I like more on holiday than spending my day out and about, then coming back to my hotel for a massage or special treatment. It just makes me feel like I’m really on holiday. So if all that lazing around on the beach and by the pool isn't enough, the Queen of Montenegro has you covered here too.

They’ve got a lovely, tranquil and modern spa centre where they’ll get you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated – that’s what holidays are about right?!

As well as massages, face and body treatments you can make use of the indoor pool, saunas and gym.

The Queen of Montenegro is great option for people who want a large hotel with all the facilities you'd expect. With indoor and outdoor pools, wellness facilities, restaurants and a private beach, they have it all covered.

This is a good option for a family vacation on the Budva Riviera, especially if you're children are happy to hang out on the beach or you plan to do a few activities (check out my page about things to do in Montenegro for ideas.) I do think the hotel could do with a play area for younger children.

If you're travelling without children and you're looking for a beach holiday, this hotel is ideal.
