Three Nights in Montenegro

by Tom Olson
(Los Angeles, California, USA)

Hi there - We are a group of 6, 2 couples and our 2 daughters (in their early 20's). We will be spending 1 week touring the Croatian islands and then debarking in Dubrovnik. We will then drive to Montenegro and spend 4 days (3 nights). The dates will be July 4 - July 7. We have done some research but still have questions about how to maximize our travel experience to Montenegro. We love to explore, eat & drink, get to know the local culture & people. The girls love to shop and the boys enjoy experiencing things off the beaten path.
Any itinerary suggestions, sights, shops, restaurant / bar recommendations would be so appreciated.

Three Nights in Montenegro
by: Sarah

Hi Tom,

I would recommend staying in the Bay of Kotor. It's beautiful, full of culture and there are lots of must-see attractions in a small area.

If you rent a car you can stay anywhere in the bay, if you book transfers to bring you across you can stay in any of the main towns in the bay: Kotor, Herceg Novi or Tivat. You can find out more here:

Kotor
Herceg Novi
Tivat

To make the most of your time, I'd recommend these tours and activities:

Full-Day Montenegro Tour
3 Hour Speed Boat Tour
ATV Tours (the Full Feel Lustica Tour is highly recommended)
Kotor Walls Walk up San Giovanni Fortress
Catovica Mlini Restaurant

Unfortunately Montenegro isn't a great destination for shopping, especially comparing to LA! But wine and prosciutto from Njegusi make great souvenirs. And you can always spay a cat in lieu of buying a kitschy souvenir in Kotor!

Happy travels,
Sarah
